The island of Ekerö boasts one of the to-do hikes in Stockholm city. The island includes plenty of medieval churches, golf courses, marinas, hiking trails, farmers shops and a strong and vibrant cultural and community organizations. Ekerö has two of Sweden's 15 World Heritage Sites, Drottningholm and Birka - Hovgården. Ekerö to Munsöleden is one of the hiking trails in Ekerö. The prospects for the trail sometimes changes due to deforestation and other factors. Friluftsfrämjandets website keeps a tab on current changes and updates on the trail. The starting/ending point for the trail is at Träkvista square. There is a circular loop of 5 km which has been created from the main road to the road to Sandudden. The Hike which we covered was Ekerö to Träkvista and it took 5 Hrs (including several short breaks and a lunch break).
